‘My son Joshuah was suicidal when I was talking with him on the phone. He was crying. He wanted to kill himself and felt he couldn’t go on after a relationship ended. I didn’t know what to say to him. This shook me to the core, because my children are so very important to me. I couldn’t imagine life without him. Hi father took his life when he was 22 years old and Joshuah was only five. Now, it was time for us to got o church and what a trip! The chaplain played the DVD, Tears of the Dragonfly. This DVD helped me so very much, allowing me to hear the words that I needed to say to my son. I frantically tried many times to call my son. When I finally got through, I told him he was being selfish if he was to do this. I told him that he was loved and that his sister, brother, nieces, nephews, friends and more people than he knew needed him. I said, ‘I love you, I need you. Please don’t do it because you don’t know how many people are praying for you.’ After I said that I could actually hear a smile come into his voice. I was able to pull him out of this suicidal thought. Glory be to God, and thank you, Chaplain McDonald, more than you know. Since then, I have talked to Joshuah, and he knows that he is a blessed person and he is worth something, because God DOESN’T MAKE JUNK!’ - Elizabeth Riffe-BaldEagle
